KAMPALA, Uganda — The Uganda Law Society has rallied behind detained Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, condemning his alleged abduction by security forces.
Lukwago, who was taken from his home in a dawn raid, faces treason charges related to his opposition activities. His lawyers say the arrest violated due process.
“We cannot stand by while the rule of law is undermined,” said the Law Society president. “Every citizen deserves fair treatment, regardless of their political views.”
