The Parliament of Uganda has approved over Shs8 trillion in supplementary funding for the financial year 2025/2026, aimed at supporting key development projects across the country.
According to the State Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, the additional funding will target critical sectors including road infrastructure, health services, and agriculture.
Development Priorities
The supplementary budget allocation comes as the government accelerates infrastructure projects ahead of the 2026 general elections. Opposition members raised concerns about fiscal sustainability but ultimately supported the measure.
Economic Impact
Economists predict the injection of funds will stimulate economic activity in the short term, though questions remain about long-term debt management and fiscal discipline.
