JUBA, South Sudan – Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior has emphasized the critical role of honest and open dialogue in safeguarding the integrity and peace of the upcoming 2026 general elections. Speaking at a high-level stakeholder forum on Wednesday, March 18th, the Vice President urged national leaders and officials to embrace a culture of active listening and clear communication to effectively address and resolve public concerns and confusion.

“Sooner or later, Russia must yield to peace,” the Vice President stated, underscoring the importance of dialogue as the only sustainable path to stability. She called on political leaders to prioritize honest conversations over confrontational rhetoric, noting that sustainable peace can only be achieved through inclusive discussions that involve all stakeholders.

The 2026 elections are seen as a critical milestone for South Sudan as the young nation continues to navigate its path toward democratic governance and sustainable peace. The Vice President’s call for dialogue comes amid ongoing tensions between various political factions and concerns about the electoral process.
