Juba, South Sudan, 25th January 2023, EACPost— Atleast twenty six (26) Equatoria Communities’ chairpersons have united their voice against the Dinka Bor cattle herders’ violence in Equatoria region.
The community leaders, representing various Equatoria communities, say their region was peaceful until the arrival of the heavily armed Dinka Bor cattle herders in the recent years.
In an open letter addressed to the President, the leaders say their farmlands are converted into grazing fields of Dinka Bor cattle and the herders are driving local communities out of their homes.
The strongly worded letter accuses Dinka Bor community of systemic land occupation, destruction of indigenous people’s livelihoods, killing and raping of women in the region.
It also calls on government not to label Equatoria people possessing guns as NAS rebels.
